On Saturday 29 July, W&H will once again be supporting the Surrey Championship's Blue Bails Day which itself supports Cricket United, a charity which raises funds for three other charities, The Lords Taverners, Chance to Shine and the PCA Benevolent Fund.

Cricket United are aiming to turn the Oval blue on the third day of the Test Match against South Africa and we are aiming to do the same at Brewery Road, Westfield and Waterers Park.

Please wear blue to your game on that day, or in the bar in the evening. We will also be using Blue Bails at each of our three home games as we have done in previous years.

In the evening we will one again be undertaking the "Drink the Fridge" challenge with the very simple aim of drinking everything in the Fridge. It goes without saying that we need as much help as we can get especially with the additional fridge space this season. To help us with our cause, our generous Bar Chairman has agreed to run some drink promotions (details on the night). This will undoubtably include some blue drinks!! We'd like to see as many people there as possible and preferably wearing blue. We hope you can make it.

This Sunday, Woking and Horsell and Old Woking have the honour of taking part in the inaugural Lane McKendry Memorial Match to celebrate the two legends of the respective clubs.

The game is being played at Old Woking's Ground, Queen Elizabeth Way, Woking.

Why not get along or play cricket yourself?

Dave Lane emodied everything about the spirit of cricket and we would be hard pushed to think of anyone who made anymore effort to get a game of cricket on than him. We honestly believe he would be chuffed to know we are celebrating him but equally he would be disappointed to know we have been unable to raise teams this season and may so again with other Sunday fixture. There are no rights or wrongs and we will all remember Dave in our own way.

Lets honour Dave the best we can, watch, enjoy and play cricket. Cricket Family stick together.

On Sunday 25 June, Woking and Horsell will once again take on the Surrey Masters at our Brewery Road ground in Horsell. The Masters will be looking for revenge following our victory against them two years ago and they have picked another strong team for Sunday's match:

Surrey Masters

David Ward
Joey Benjamin
Gary Butcher
Tony Murphy
Scott Newman
Adam Hollioake
Paul Atkins
Zahid Sadiq
Dudley Owen-Thomas
Chris Thompson

The bar and a BBQ will be running from 12.00. The game will start at 1.30 and will be 25 overs per side. Entry on the day is free and everybody is welcome.
Senior Players - In order to run this event we are also looking for people to set the ground up, run the BBQ and clear up on the day. If you are available to help then please let This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. know.

Tickets will be sold this weekend and cost £5 for a strip of tickets. The draw will be made following the Surrey Masters game.

The club has made a decent start to the season following an excellent work day which succeeded in getting the ground looking in as good a shape as it has done at this stage for many a year. We have won half the games we have played and the seconds and thirds are sitting towards the top of their league.

We have, however, really struggled to get teams onto the field and the skippers are having to work too hard to field their XIs. We are asking for players to commit to as many games as they can, particularly to cover the next few weeks as we have several players unavailable due to school and university commitments.  If you can't play on a Saturday please consider playing on a Sunday instead (even if you don't usually play on Sundays) or vice versa. If you only play a couple of games a season then please do consider stepping on to the field in the very near future!!!
The captains are likely be asking for availability for the next few weeks to get a good idea of whether these issues are short-term or not. Please be prepared to let your skipper know whether you are around the next few weekends. If you are not playing then please contact them separately. The captains work very hard to get games on for us so let's help them out. That includes replying to text messages/emails quickly to make life easier for them.
Finally, thank you to all of those who have played regularly this season. We just need more of you.  We all know how a series of victories on either a Saturday or Sunday creates a great atmosphere at the Club.  However, this will only consistently be achieved with a greater level of commitment from our playing members.  The better our availability, the more likely it is that we are playing winning cricket at the right end of the tables.
Thanks in advance for your co-operation and let's build some momentum.

This is a polite notification to state that it is not possible to park on Horsell Moor, the grass park area opposite the Brewery Road clubhouse.

We appreciate at this current time with the construction work at the old Ashley Cook site that parking has been limited. The club respectfully requests that alternative solutions are sought.

For weekend parking it is fine to move the fenced metal railing around the corner from the clubhouse on Horsell Moor. There is also parking available on Horsell Moor just before Jewsons’ and the gym.

The compound area outside the site office of the building contractor (old white knight shop/house on the corner) is also free for us to use at the weekends. There are two gated parts to the fence that are on wheels and open inwards into the compound which can be easily accessed.

However, we must ensure the compound area and fencing are both put back in place by Sunday night. If this doesn’t happen then we may lose all our additional rights to parking.

During the week and evenings we only have available the general road parking areas opposite the club and down Horsell Moor.

Your assistance and patience is greatly appreciated whilst the building works are being completed.
