Does anyone know the rules for this competition?

Well its taken five seasons for Woking and Horsell to take to the field in this competition so it would have been rude not to try and drag five seasons worth of drama into one game.

As luck would have it we were drawn against premier league leaders Sunbury and the game started with a toss that both captains were desperate to win, Sunbury shaded it with an inspired call of heads and proceeded to just about shade the rest of the game. This meant that Sunburys 6 players would bat against Wokings 9 fielders with Sunbury's umpire doubling up as scorer!

Your club needs YOU! Part II

The signs are good for the start of the 2010 season for Woking and Horsell Cricket Club. We have had a very healthy influx of new members at senior nets allowing us to put more sides out on a weekend than we have for a long time. The Junior set up continues to thrive with Friday nights as popular as ever and we are seeing more and more of the clubs colts coming through to play in the adult teams. Off the pitch Charlie has got the ground looking in excellent shape, the extended net facilities are in full use and Jamie plus various helpers at the ‘Work Weekend’ have done extensive work in and around the clubhouse and bar.

However, we want to make the club the best possible place to play cricket in the area and this is where we need your help. Every amateur club relies on volunteer support and our aim is to increase our network of helpers so more people do less.

We have put together a list of just some of jobs that need doing around the club plus things that we would like to do to make the season more enjoyable but need your help with.

There may be something on the list that you are proficient at or enjoy doing, so if you would like to help with any of these tasks then please do contact the people on the list who are associated with each job.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Your club needs YOU!

Gentlemen: Your club needs YOU!

Woking & Horsell venture overseas(ish) to tackle the best the Isle of Wight has to offer.

We are delighted to announce that, this summer, Woking & Horsell Cricket Club will undertake a historic tour to the Isle of Wight. Leading batsmen, fearsome bowlers, predatory wicketkeepers and Ollie Guy alike will be representing the club in our inaugural tour to the Isle of Wight from 8th – 12th September. This is the perfect way to bring what is sure to be a hugely successful season to a close and to build on the already sterling reputation of Woking & Horsell around the globe – or at least in a small part of the Isle of Wight.

However, tours don’t just happen and we all need to contribute to make this work. Our thanks to Helen, our new scorer, for making the necessary arrangements, but there is still much to be done. Firstly, we need players. Places are limited, so people need to confirm availability and intention to partake now! Second, there’s no such thing as a free tour - we need funding. We all need to work together to raise the money to pay for this.
