On a damp and murky evening, Woking & Horsell U17s continued their excellent season by capturing the WSYCL championship in an exciting final against Bagshot. The match was in doubt due to heavy rain in Bagshot during the day, but the neutral umpires decided it was playable and, on winning the toss, W&H decided to bowl first. Despite the slippery conditions, W&H’s opening pair of Calum Chisolm and Dougie LeBrocq kept the Bagshot top order quiet. Calum’s extra pace was particularly difficult for the Bagshot batsmen to deal with. Bagshot recovered and were progressing at almost 5 an over – thanks to some strong performances from their middle order. However an impressive spell of 5-13 in his 4 overs by Henri Peters left the hosts on 112-8 at the close.

Bank Holiday Monday, just what cricket festivals are all about. Well on this fine Spring Bank Holiday(!!!!), W&H sent the youngest of their league age groups to do battle at the Twin Fields, home of Horsley & Send CC. Our squad of eight fit young lads assembled on time, in the correct location and in fine fettle for the day ahead – senior X1’s please take note!
