4TH XI SECURE WINNING DRAW IN DREADFUL CONDITIONS

The 4th XI were the only team to play for long enough on Saturday to get a result  as most of Surrey was under water.  15 year-old Paul Bennett made his maiden hundred for the seniors, scoring 116 not out to secure the four points. Thames Ditton won the toss and chose to bat. In the wet conditions WHCC proceeded to drop a lot of catches leading to Thames Ditton making 220 for 7 off a reduced 44 overs. WHCC got off to a flyer but suffered a collapse before Paul Bennetts impressive innings.  A marginally better run rate from WHCC meant that we picked up 4 valuable points for a winning draw.  The second eleven also started their game against Addiscombe and were handily placed at 95-3 after 25 overs before the game was called off.  The first and third elevens didn't even start their games.  The Sunday XI didn't have much joy either as their game was abandoned shortly after tea.  They did have enough time for Billy Hargan to score yet another fifty, finishing on 215-5 declared.  The Bank were thirty for one when rain stopped play for the day.
