This year’s W&HCC quiz will take place on Saturday 2 March. The bar will be open from 6:30 with the quiz starting at 7.30. If you would like to enter a team (maximum of six people) then please do let Tim Keene know by contacting him at This email address is being protected from spambots. As usual everybody is welcome so get your teams together to kick the W&H social year off. We are expecting a big turnout for this event so please do get your teams in early as we don’t have a huge amount of space and may not be able to cater for everyone.

Fish and chips will be available but these need to be ordered in advance so please let Tim know at least a week in advance before if you would like to order.

Thanks very much.

We have identified an overseas player who is interested in coming to Woking this summer, however, we need the help of the membership to find him some accommodation for the period between April and September.

The right sort of recruitment can deliver a player who will make a much greater contribution than just run-scoring and wicket-taking, particularly through a role in coaching our youth teams.

In the past, the exceptional generosity of one or two members in offering accommodation cost-free has helped the Club to get the services of an overseas players. We realise this is asking a lot, but equally we won’t attract offers unless we make the plea. If you think you could help or you have any questions please contact Henri Peters at This email address is being protected from spambots. The Surrey Championship fixtures for 2019 have been published and the headline news for next season is the regionalisation of the third and fourth eleven leagues. This will radically reduce the amount of travelling time to games with the aim of encouraging more people to play cricket. That is something we are also very keen to promote as a club. The furthest that the third eleven will travel next season is Farnham whilst the fourth eleven won’t travel any further than Old Ruts with local derbies against Chertsey, Weybridge Vandals, Normandy and Cobham Avorians to look forward to.

The 1st XI also have a new group of fixtures following their excellent promotion last season although the regionalisation does not apply to them. The ones start with an away game at Addiscombe, with the seconds welcoming Bank of England to Brewery Road. The third eleven will host Staines and Laleham with the fourths travelling to Sunbury.

Following a testing season for the club in 2018, it was understandable that the focus of the AGM was on the large number of colts’ players that came through the system to play for the adult teams last season and what promise that brings for the future. There is no doubt that they will need plenty of support from more senior players, however, the selection of last year’s Young Player of the Season, Elliott McPherson, as Sunday skipper for next year was a real highlight of the AGM.

Elliott’s father, Neil, spoke about the large number of colts players that we have playing for us and a number of youngsters that have gone on to play representative cricket. 1st XI captain Henri Peters also praised our young players who performed well in the 1st XI’s promotion season mentioning that they and the team had performed above his expectations.

Tom Harlow was elected as Cricket Chairman for next year and Johnny Ayling (2nd XI) and Matt Wilson (4th XI) will join Elliott as “new” captains next season.

There are a few changes on the main committee too with Helen Smith joining as Welfare Officer, Keith Goodwin as Fundraising Chairman and Andrew Murphy re-joining as Communications Manager.

As ever, if you would like to get more involved in volunteering to help your club then we would love to hear from you.  Please speak to Peter Smith or Trevor Woods.
