Cricket returned to Brewery Road last weekend with two interclub games and plenty of people taking advantage of the good weather and the bar being open.

The cricket continues this week with a T20 interclub game tomorrow evening (Thursday 16th) starting at 6.00. The bar will be open from 5.30 so please do come down and watch.

We also have four games this Saturday with the first eleven playing Staines at home with the second team playing the same opposition away. Both the third and fourth eleven make the short trip to Valley End.

This week will see 55 different senior players playing cricket for us including seven new players. A warm welcome to all of them. We have also seen several returnees and we welcome all of them back.

If you need any club kit then don't forget that you can order it from our team store at Serious Cricket. They have a wide rage of W&HCC branded kit.

We hope to see you all at Brewery Road soon.

I’m sure many of you would have seen the brilliant news last week that the UK Government has given the green light for recreational cricket in England to return from Saturday.

Saturday – Cricket cricket cricket. In the morning we will have a work party from 10am to 12.30pm to put the finishing touches on preparing the ground and clubhouse for the start of the season. Jobs that need doing include painting, sweeping and clearing the patio and cleaning the sight-screens. This will be followed by a 1's and 2's practice match commencing at 1pm which promises to be competitive. If cricket alone isn't enough to entice you down to the ground the bar will be open from lunchtime onwards so please come along and enjoy the opening day of our season. The weather forecast looks good all weekend.

Sunday – In the morning there will be back to back juniors fixtures followed by a 3's and 4's practice match commencing at 2.30pm. The bar will once again be open from lunchtime onwards.

Thursday 16th July - There will be an in-house T20 at Brewery Road commencing at 6pm.

Whilst it’s exciting to finally see the return of cricket at Brewery Road it’s critical that we all do our best to protect each other and that we all enjoy our time at the club responsibly in accordance with the latest UK government guidelines concerning social distancing. The club will be putting all the possible measures in place to make the club as safe as possible, but we ask all visitors to the ground to adhere to the following before and during their visit.

  • Do not come to the club if you or an individual in your household is symptomatic with a possible COVID19 infection.
  • Wash hands thoroughly before leaving home. Bring your own hand sanitiser if possible and maintain strict and frequent hand hygiene measures.
  • Remain socially distanced at all times and refrain from all contact with cricket balls e.g. returning it to the field of play.
  • In the event of rain, please seek shelter keeping your distance or in your own vehicle.

Following the latest update from the UK Government, the ECB have prepared a plan to support clubs and individuals as they prepare for the return of recreational cricket, including details of adjustments which should be made to respect hygiene and social distancing requirements.

That plan – available here – covers a number of areas of the game, including:

  • Pre-match adaptations regarding transport and symptom checking.
  • In-game adaptations applying to social distancing measures, hygiene, match officials and the use of equipment.
  • Post-game adaptations, including the potential use of club facilities.
  • To support this, please also find here an eight step infographic, and an infographic for pre-match, in-game and post-game adaptations here.
Dear members,
We hope you are all doing well. We have some good news to share with you! The bar is reopening this Saturday from 4pm onwards.
To comply with guidance including 2 metres + social distancing, we will only be able to use the outside area for members and their family and guests. Only those serving drinks will be allowed inside the main part of the clubhouse. The WC's behind the changing rooms will be open and signage will be in operation on routes to use these facilities.
Please enter the ground via the gate to the right of the clubhouse and exit via the gate between the changing rooms and equipment shed. Drinks ordering will be taken on the patio and delivered on the patio for collection. Please note, payment will be by card only, no cash.
Hand sanitisers will be available for use and surfaces and other items in use will be regularly cleaned.
Please come along in groups of up to 6. As part of our compliance, we are required to keep a record of all those in attendance on every occasion for 21 days to assist NHS test and trace should it be required. We will therefore have a sign in book to keep a log of those in attendance.
We will also be opening the bar on the following days and times:
Mondays - 5.30pm to 8pm for colts parents
Tuesdays - 6pm to 9.30pm
Wednesdays - 5.30pm to 8pm for colts parents

Work Sundays on Sunday 28 June and Sunday 5th July

We still have some jobs that need to be done in order to get the club and the ground ready for cricket this season. We are running two Work Sundays from 10.00-1.00 and we are looking for some volunteers to carry out a few jobs, mainly painting jobs.

Surrey Championship – return to cricket

The Surrey Championship League have asked clubs to get ready to play league cricket from Saturday 25 July and have published some Q&As should we receive the go ahead to start playing from the Government and the ECB.

When cricket gets underway, we will be looking to organise some friendly games in addition to league matches, where possible, so everyone can enjoy a game of cricket. We will continue to update you regularly via newsletter, social media, and your captains.

250 Club – first draw this Sunday

The first 250 Club draw takes place this Sunday which means this is your last chance to buy some numbers. You have to be in it to win it! It could be you! Details of how to join can be found on the website

Bar open from Saturday 4th July

We will be opening the club bar from Saturday 4th July in line with Government guidance. Further details of opening times will be available soon.

As you know, we are returning to scheduled training this week, however, many questions have been raised as to when we may be able to start playing again and what the ECB's plan is to return to cricket. They try to answer those in the following FAQs document.

The next two weeks’ worth of net times have now been released.

There are limited times available as both the juniors and seniors have organised scheduled sessions booked in throughout the week.

Senior sessions have to be carefully managed in line with ECB guidelines and are, therefore, invite only. We will be contacting those who have paid this season’s membership fee to invite them to a net session. If there are any reasons you cannot pay this year please contact our Membership Secretary, Tom Bartosak Harlow. If you have not been contacted and want to net then please speak to your captain as soon as you can. Please do not turn up to a session you have not been invited to.

You are very welcome to book a session independent of the club sessions. If you do book a session and are unable to make it please cancel it. We wish to give as many people as possible the opportunity to enjoy a net session.

Please find all of the current guidelines and the link to the booking form below.
